At the Dharma Primary School we enjoy celebrating festivals from all faiths and cultures and this morning we held a special puja to mark the Hindu festival of Diwali (celebrated on 23rd October). The festival signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair and children in all classes shared their Diwali-inspired artwork and craft projects. Lotus class showed their colourful artwork and handed out foil-wrapped ‘sweets’ they had made to celebrate friendship; Ocean brought their patterned Rangoli boxes; Mountain had made sparkly Diva lamps, and Dragonfly brought along their shadow puppets. The school community also joined together to sing a special Diwali song.
